The 1st Edition Released in Spring 2022
The first edition of the Heaven Hill Heritage Collection is a 17-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that really speaks to the decades of patience and old-school skill behind it. For this debut, they blended bourbon aged anywhere from 17 to 20 years.
Key Specifications:
- Proof: 118.2
- Age: 17 years (minimum)
- Mashbill: 78% corn, 10% rye, 12% malted barley
- Filtration: None (barrel proof)
They pulled barrels from several age groups for this whiskey. Retailers say it’s made up of 28% 20-year-old, 44% 19-year-old, and 28% 17-year-old barrels. Even though there’s some older stuff in there, the official age reflects the youngest barrel, thanks to the rules.
The bourbon comes from four different rickhouses scattered around Kentucky. Each bottle is loaded with transparency—barrel sources, production details, the works—right there on the label.
Tasting Profile:
- Color: Burnished copper
- Nose: Vanilla, aged oak, old wood
- Palate: Walnut, cedar, leather notes
- Finish: Caramel, smoke, char
People say it drinks softer than its 118.2 proof might suggest, with more emphasis on depth than fire. It hit shelves as a limited national release at $274.99—not exactly cheap, but hardly surprising for something this rare.
